These before and after images show a patient with moderate staining on the upper teeth. Bleaching gel applied in custom made trays at home were used to effect this lightening.
A one hour in office application of bleaching materials can also be used, usually followed by the tray applied gel at home.
This case shows a before picture showing unnaturally shaped and irregularly colored old fillings. These have been replaced with veneers. Veneers are thin disc-like coverings bonded over the front surfaces of the teeth. They can be made in office in one visit, using composite resin or made in the laboratory, requiring a second visit, using either composite resin or, for more durable, color stable restorations, porcelain.
In this situation, stained, leaking and breaking silver fillings have been replaced with bonded, tooth colored composite resin. These fillings seal better than the silver and have obvious esthetic advantages.
